Malana Village - The Oldest Democracy

Malana is an ancient  Indian village in the  state of  Himachal Pradesh. This village is a side Valley of the Parvati Valley  to the north-east of  Kullu Valley, is different from the rest of the world. It is situated on a remote plateau by the side of the torrential Malana river, at a height of 2,652 metres (8,701 ft) above sea level. Malana has its own lifestyle and social structure and people are strict in following their customs. It is also know as Touch me not Village, they worship Jamlu Rishi and according to them they are different from rest of the world. People visiting there are not allowed to touch them or their buildings and holy temples, if done so there is a fine of 3000-4000 Rupees. They claim that they have the oldest democracy in the world and well organised Parliamentary system.
                                                           Malana is also known for production of best quality of Hashish in the workd. The climate conditions and habitat provides best quality weed raisins from which Hashish is been extracted. The amount of THC is rich in Hashish produced, It is also know as Mcream the "Malana Cream" Hashish.



How to reach Malana - To reach Malana we can hire a taxi from taxi union Kasol , it takes approx 2 hours and 1000 Rupees for dropping till the trek point. After reaching the trek point we have to Trek about 1.5 kms (01 hour Trek) to reach Malana Village.



Where to stay in Malana Village - There are some of the guest house available just before the village and outside the village which costs around 500-800 per night. We can also return the same day of Trek as it is just 01 hour of Trek.



Things to do around Malana - Since Malana is a small village, there is nothing much to do around. We can visit the village, look after their culture, their holy temples and buildings. Scoring Hashish in Malana is very easy, every people over there will ask you for Hashish. Rates depends upon season and you, how much you can negotiate to them.
Strongly Suggested - Don't score more than 2-3 Tolas of Hashish and do not touch them or their property.



Things to Pack before leaving - Prefer Rucksack bags instead of Trolley bags which will help you with comfort while trekking, Torch, Portable Charger, Woollen Clothes, Cigarettes and Alcohol since there is no liquor shop near the Village.
